Calgary filmmaker Alex Mitchell just dropped the trailer for his new short film, Reproduction.

I really like the premise of this film and the execution of the idea, as seen in the trailer, is pretty stellar. So check it out below, team!

Classic Film Curator

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

On Tuesday, June 14th at 7 pm, I will be curating a film in the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers’ Classic Film series.

The Classic Film Series is an event run on the second Tuesday of every month. A curator chooses a feature film from the CSIF’s library (all of which are classic films on 16mm donated by the Calgary Public Library) then the title is kept a secret and only a theme is announced. You never know what you might see when you show up, its pretty great!

I went through the library and chose a great scifi flick from 1936. It is dated in all the right ways. If you are in town, you should come check it out.

They also had me write a tease for the screening on their blog, so if you still aren’t sure if you want to come maybe this will entice you!

Six Month Progress Report

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Alright, it is July and I am six months into my attempt to movies in a 12 movies in a year.

Let’s look at the stats:

Complete: 2

In Post: 5

In Pre: 1

Okay! Not that auspicious… But I have not given up! I just some how have to ignore summer and start working like a mother.

Or I will just burn off a whole bunch of simple in-camera silent films in Decemeber.

Either way, check back in six months and see if your humble narrator soared to new heights or fallen a sleep at the wheel.
